1 Star Odd…Is this legal?
One reviewer pointed out that Anne Gabriel is reviewing her own book. If this real? It will be very misleading to praise your own book and pretending to be a reader. The review is written in a way where she cited experiences and how the book helped her understand this whole business…but if you wrote the book…duh?

Question on the credibility of the author and hence, the book….

5 Stars Practical Advice for tarting a Vending biz
If you’re thinking about starting a vending business and need to know how the pros work the biz this book is for you. If you r an experienced veteran and want some validation on your best practices and principles this book is for you. If you are just looking into starting a vending business and have no vending machines and no stake in the game this book might turn you off to the vending industry before you even try you hand at the vending business.

4 Stars Good book with valuable examples
This is the second book on vending that I have read recently. I enjoyed this book due to the good examples that the author used.

1 Star Bland – not worth buying
This book is bland, bland, bland. Basically it was written by someone who knows nothing about the vending business…they just did a little research on it and put together a lousy book. I own a successful vending business and thought a book from Entreprener Magazine might be handy to get some new ideas from…but it’s not. There are few good ideas in this book, old or new. There are better books out there on vending – this one is a waste of time & money.

1 Star what kind of a jackass reviews her own book?
answer: the author of this thin tome. even worse the book reads with the authority of a high school research paper. don’t waste your money. the author is a poser.

User Ratings and Reviews

1 Star There are better books out there
If you’re looking for real, useful information on starting a home inspection business, or becoming a better home inspector this book won’t help you much. It doesn’t take long before you realize the person writing this is not a home inspector. Mostly filler, with very little content. The “how to start your own business” tips can be applied to ANY business & are very basic. I got so frustrated with the lack of information I just stopped reading it 2/3 of the way thru.

3 Stars Interesting but you still need to do alot more
Don’t think that by reading this book that you will close the last page go out there and start inspecting homes.

YOu need alot more information and you will need to read alot more books and do some proper training. However the book is an interesting read and you will get a few ideas on what you should do. it advises to get some interpersonal skills if you do not already have them. So I went and bought a few books on that, and it cost me over

5 Stars Good Advice, Good Ideas
This little book is different.

Most marketing books tell you how to do the same old things: market studies, focus groups, testing, etc.

This one is different. It is basically an analysis of research involving advertisements, brands, customers, and sales reps. The format is basically a series of little two page points. The left hand page is labeled “Scientific Advice” and the right hand is “Practical Ideas.”

A lot of these are the old standbys like: KISS, Keep it Simple Stupid. Make your message so a ten year old can understand it. But even the old standbys need to be thought over every once in a while.

And some of the scientific advice directly contradicts the old message. Selling the sizzle rather than the steak for instance is often a mistake. And he gives the evidence to prove it.

Most of the messages seem to me to be more concerned with a smaller company, even a start-up rather than a giant operation. There’s more on selling new widgets rather than convincing people to buy Coke rather than Pepsi.

An inexpensive little book, even one idea for your next marketing project will cover its cost many times over, and I got much more than one idea out of it.

5 Stars Myth buster
Great book, full of insights gained by reviewing the research and through testing. It shines a harsh light on many false assumptions among marketers and non marketers alike. But also it gives actionable advice on what to do to improve marketing results. I’ve written all over it and will re-read often.
