Bootstrap Finance The Art of Start Ups

Bootstrap Finance The Art of Start Ups

User Ratings and Reviews

3 Stars light on principles
This is an eight and a half page Harvard Business Review article that provides highlights from a “study of 100 of the 1989 Inc. ’500′ list of fastest growing U.S. start-ups.” The highlights consist mostly of quotes from entrepreneurs interviewed for the study, used to support the author’s “seven principles” (listed in the description). Less than half of the article is actually spent on expanding on these principles (with the other half on the virtues of bootstrapping). There are a few useful paragraphs, but don’t expect to find much detail on implementing a bootstrap strategy. If you’re just looking for affirmation that bootstrapping has its advantages and that it is actually the way most companies are funded, then you’ll find what you’re looking for.

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars Great book!!!
Short and sweet, this book gives you all the essentials of starting your own eBay consignment business. Everything from business licenses, to finding consignors, to taking great auction photographs is mentioned. This is a great starting point for those looking to start their own consignment store.

5 Stars Best Trading Assistant Book on the Market
Skips book How to Start and Run an eBay Consignment Business is the best resource for zeroing in on becoming a successful Trading Assistant. There are many other books out there, but most of them cover many things about eBay. Skip covers every aspect of the business. I have been an successful TA for many years and still refer back to this book.

3 Stars If you have Titanium Ebay from the same author, this book is just a cut and paste work with an extended chapter on consignment
About 85% of the book is in Titanium Ebay, and in the exact same words. Its just cut and paste. If this is your first Skip McGraph book, this is excellent way to start.

I love McGraph style, and incisive info on the Ebay business. He tells you insider secrets of PowerSellers, and their tactics. But the best are the cases he makes, examples of what to buy, how to sell it and profit. He opens up your mind that almost everything sells.

5 Stars eBay Consignment guide
Very good guide on what “to do” and “not to do” in starting the eBay consignment business. The author speaks from his own experience which I have found is the best way to learn.

Another Great book that stays close by on my shelf for reference

3 Stars Good shape
It shipped quickly and was in good shape. I bought this from an outside vendor. Started reading it. Very clear good information in it.

The Market Giants Stretch ISPs Compete for Usage Share France

The Market Giants Stretch ISPs Compete for Usage Share France

Topical Report Volume 2, 2001 In October 2000, the four leading ISP sites in France commanded nine percent of total time spent online. As the number of online users in France and the amount of time they spend online continue to grow, European ISPs are aggressively moving toward content, in hopes of retaining a greater portion of their subscribers’ time online. These players are striving to evolve into mainstream media properties with strategies that include directly operating portal plays, bolstering subscription revenues with advertising and commerce dollars earned via an increasingly captive audience. To date, ISPs such as Libertysurf.fr and Free.fr have been looking to increase the stickiness of their sites to improve advertising and commerce revenues. However, these properties have yet to achieve their goals, and trail behind Wanadoo.fr. The French access market is dominated by five players: Wanadoo.fr, Free.fr, Libertysurf.fr, Club-Internet.fr, and AOL’s proprietary service. This report examines usage patterns among them as they solidified strategies to compete in both the access and media arenas, over the six-month period from April 2000 to October 2000. These ISPs can be divided into three categories, based on their general-purpose portal strategies: Wanadoo.fr and Libertysurf.fr each follow two-brand strategies, operating eponymous portals targeted at their subscribers, and separate, uniquely branded portals (Voila.fr and Nomade.fr, respectively) designed to engage the general online population. Each of the two companies pushes traffic across its network of sites. As in the US, AOL operates both a “walled-garden” proprietary service and a general-purpose portal (AOL.fr), but any time its subscribers spend online without launching a separate browser, whether on AOL properties or other sites, is also credited to AOL proprietary. Club-Internet.fr and Free.fr pursue single-brand, single-site strategies.
