User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars Close the Sale Now
I found this book to be extemely helpful and valuable for anyone in sales (aren’t we ALL in sales as we depend on revenue from a product or service?)

The most valuable lesson for me was the discussion regarding purpose. So many of us focus on the “how” of improving our business but we seldom think of the “why”. This extends far beyond the sale today, tomorrow, next month, etc. We must understand what our true purpose is and then focus on delivering value to our prospects, thus professionally helping them to buy.

The next most useful topic was the dicsussion of different personality types from the DiSC profile and how to communicate with them. This was very helpful in realizing that, when it comes to sales presentations and strategies, “one size does NOT fit all”.

The third point that I found to be very beneficial concerns the conversion rate. If I don’t measure it, it’s probably much lower than I think and there’s a great deal I can do about it if I take the points in the book to heart.

I recommend this book to anyone who has to talk to someone else about their product or service. Read this and sell more!

Jump Start Your Marketing Brain Scientific Advice and Practical Ideas

This is a powerful new approach to marketing that will multiply the impact of every dollar invested. Comprehensive research by Doug Hall details marketing initiatives that will deliver sustained success. What makes this book’s teaching more reliable and reproducible than others is its foundation on hard data reflecting customer, industrial, and business-to-business marketing, not “guru opinions.” After reading Jump Start Your Marketing Brain, readers will know how to more effectively and efficiently market and sell their brand, their services, their products, and even themselves!

5 Stars Good Advice, Good Ideas
This little book is different.

Most marketing books tell you how to do the same old things: market studies, focus groups, testing, etc.

This one is different. It is basically an analysis of research involving advertisements, brands, customers, and sales reps. The format is basically a series of little two page points. The left hand page is labeled “Scientific Advice” and the right hand is “Practical Ideas.”

A lot of these are the old standbys like: KISS, Keep it Simple Stupid. Make your message so a ten year old can understand it. But even the old standbys need to be thought over every once in a while.

And some of the scientific advice directly contradicts the old message. Selling the sizzle rather than the steak for instance is often a mistake. And he gives the evidence to prove it.

Most of the messages seem to me to be more concerned with a smaller company, even a start-up rather than a giant operation. There’s more on selling new widgets rather than convincing people to buy Coke rather than Pepsi.

An inexpensive little book, even one idea for your next marketing project will cover its cost many times over, and I got much more than one idea out of it.

5 Stars Myth buster
Great book, full of insights gained by reviewing the research and through testing. It shines a harsh light on many false assumptions among marketers and non marketers alike. But also it gives actionable advice on what to do to improve marketing results. I’ve written all over it and will re-read often.

Guerrilla Marketing 4th edition Easy and Inexpensive Strategies for Making Big Profits from Your SmallBusiness

When Guerrilla Marketing was first published in 1983, Jay Levinson revolutionized marketing strategies for the small-business owner with his take-no-prisoners approach to finding clients. Based on hundreds of solid ideas that really work, Levinson’s philosophy has given birth to a new way of learning about market share and how to gain it. In this completely updated and expanded fourth edition, Levinson offers a new arsenal of weaponry for small-business success including

* strategies for marketing on the Internet (explaining when and precisely how to use it)

* tips for using new technology, such as podcasting and automated marketing

* programs for targeting prospects and cultivating repeat and referral business

* management lessons in the age of telecommuting and freelance employees

Guerrilla Marketing is the entrepreneur’s marketing bible — and the book every small-business owner should have on his or her shelf.

User Ratings and Reviews

1 Star Do not buy this
Look on every other bookstore website. The review’s are EXACTLY the same…word for word. I smell a skunk.

5 Stars Guerilla Marketing
Very helpful information for small businesses working out ways to best market their products and services

5 Stars I hope our competitors don’t read this!
An easy and friendly read, packed full of information… Many ideas you may already know, but have never taken full advantage of. At least a dozen strategies you can start using right now, and a few more that you will really need to plan carefully to use effectively. Levinson explains the importance of focussed and consistent advertising, referrals, testimonials and so much more. You’ll learn about how and why you need to get it right BEFORE you advertise, then a multitude of simple ways to get your message out there. I’ve been in the design and advertising business for 30 years. I have always had some cool ideas for the graphic design… now I’m getting the MESSAGE right, too! This book has given me new insight into how we can get the best return on a small budget. I’m using these ideas at my full-time job for a commercial printer, as well as with a new business my wife and I started in October, 2007. So far, even in this dismal economy, we’re seeing 10 to 20% growth each month. Thank you Jay. Almost every page of this book is covered in yellow highlighter!

5 Stars Make your business a 900 lb guerilla to be a 900 lb gorrilla
This book is outstanding. I have yet to finish reading the whole thing, but will soon. After each chapter it fills you with such inspiration for your business you will have to put it down and start acting on the secrets you KNOW your competition is overlooking.

As a small tackle shop that carries fishing flies and supplies, not many – if ANY – of my competitors are doing any of the secrets locked within these pages, so it has really opened up a whole world of possibilities for what I do.

This book will do more for ANY business, or business who wants its employees to further the image, word, branding, marketing and every aspect of the business. Before I bought this book I always thought to grow, you needed to spend big bucks on marketing and advertising…. what was I thinking?

Written to be inspiring, it WILL call you to action with real world applications they won’t teach you in business school, because some of the most effective things have little or no cost!

GET THIS BOOK if you want your business to flourish or if you have a business, or just a hobby you would like to see some return from. If you just want it to sink into the ground… well then, I guess you won’t need it.

We were wasting so much money before, just missing the point or not understanding how people work, and marketing vs advertising. The author is a real world pro at big and small business, where has this book been all my life?

Practicing what he preaches this author has made some struggling companies turn into daily household words… and even cultural icons – Like The Marlboro man, Proctor and Gamble, and a multitude of others. Learn from those who can show you some of their successes, don’t waste time on authors with nothing under their belts to show for their theories.

BUY THIS BOOK FIRST.

2 Stars Marketing Material for Jay Conrad
I don’t like the book. Jay Conrad use the book to promote his other books. There’s no helpful examples or specific tips to use. You will achieve more results and gain more knowledge from the book Scientific Advertising of Claude C. Hopkins.

User Ratings and Reviews

3 Stars Good Information, but Boring
Not a bad book, but covers this glamorous and supposedly fun business in a boring tone. I recommend this book for some overall guidance, but highly recommend a companion book to fill in the gaps.

3 Stars Helpful
I think this is a helpful book for someone who already has some experience in the field of travel. I wouldn’t recommend it to someone who thinks they want to go into travel because it’s a glamourous and exciting career – travel is a business like any other. But, this book is good as a general outline of what needs to be done.

1 Star Unrealistic for anyone with less than $1 Million Start Up
Not for the entrepreneur or small business owner. What this book tries to do is make it seem possible to start up a tour business without much capital. It glosses over crucial parts in starting a business, especially financing. Misleading and not up to par with what you would expect from a Small Business magazine.

5 Stars Tour Know How
Once I received my copy of Start Your Own Specialty Travel and Tour Business, I immediately began reading it. I only put the book down to do my chores and sleep. I read the book from cover to cover. I was able to open my tour business just from the guidance I received from what I had read. I feel confident my business will be a success.

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars Good keyboard and mouse
I always cringe when I’m faced with buying a Microsoft product; however, this keyboard and mouse are excellent and priced right.

5 Stars Breif Review
The Microsoft Business Hardware Pack is an excellent value for a keyboard and mouse set. A month ago I ordered 4 units for my small business. They’ve worked without any problems on our Macs. The software seems to function well and allows for all the additional keys and mouse buttons to be properly configured. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a keyboard and mouse set, including home users.

Keyboard Highlights:

– Ample multifunction keys

– Shock absorbing keys that are comfortable to use for extended periods of time

– Log Off, Sleep, and sound control keys

– “F Lock” key keeps it’s state after rebooting

Mouse Highlights:

– Four buttons, five including wheel click

– Improved optics over older models (it doesn’t dim when not in use, reducing lag)

– Comfortable size for any user and any hand

Pros:

– Inexpensive

– Good quality, software (Mac) and hardware

– Simple and functional design

– No batteries to replace or fail

Cons:

– None

5 Stars Nice mouse
Better than the last microsoft mouse I bought. The third and fourth button take some getting used to. Clicked a couple times accidently when grabbing mouse to move it. Improved glides, very smooth.

5 Stars Excelent
This product was priced very well and arived in perfect condition and time. Very impressed with the packaging care taken with this product.

Thank you

Information Marketing is responsive to and fueled by the ever-increasing pressure on peoples’ time. Businesspeople and consumers alike need information provided to them in convenient forms, and in some cases, need an extension of it; methods and strategies that might merely have been taught to them 10 years ago are now done for them. The Information Industry encompasses products like traditional books, audio programs, videos or DVD’s that you might buy in a store, from a catalog, or online; magazines, newsletters, e-books, membership websites, teleseminars and webinars, telecoaching programs, and seminars and conferences; and combinations thereof. Much of this business is conducted by lone wolf, small, quiet operators, many with home-based businesses, most with zero to no more than a few employees, most working only part-time hours and most netting 7-figure profits.

User Ratings and Reviews

3 Stars Not enough details
The books offers some good overview and examples of successful infopreneurs, however for someone who wants the nitty gritty details, the book fell short. I couldn’t help but feel this book was part of the “funnel selling system” designed to upsell me to a more expensive product. Its too bad because there is woefully few books with complete details on info products in the Internet age.

3 Stars Official Get Rich Guide
A fairly well-written book. Asumes reader has prior basic knowledge. Gives helpful sources for more information. Included CD is pretty useless unless you’re intent on wasting some time. Would recommend to those wanting to pursue this activity.

5 Stars Information overload
This is a great book for learning what to do if you’re interested in the world of information marketing or want to boost your success in that area. Almost every page has a website to refer to for more information, helpful contacts for services you might need and specific examples of other information marketers have done successfully in their businesses. It was actually information overload!

The best way to implement the ideas and strategies is to just focus on one area at a time…or hire Dan Kennedy to do it for you.

1 Star It Stunk…no, literally…
I preorderd this book, so when it arrived, it was fresh off the press. The ink still smelled so strong, I had to read outside at arm’s length to keep it from giving me a headache! Even then it burned my nose and irritated my sinuses! No, I’m serious!

Couldn’t say much better about the content of the information in it either. Buy any of a dozen other books if you want to learn about info marketing.

5 Stars Great overview of a lucrative industry
I’ve had my own business since 1998, but it’s only been in the past few years, since learning about info-marketing, where my business has really taken off. This book gives you a great overview on this very lucrative industry. The beauty of info-marketing is you can build a business from scratch around it, or add it as a income stream to your current business. Robert Skrob, one of the authors, does an excellent job of not just telling you about info-marketing but showing you, through the use of many case studies, how you can integrate it in your business. If you’ve never heard of info-marketing, or your idea of info-marketing is writing a book, then the Official Get Rich Guide to Information Marketing is a must-read for you.
